Notes

'Liberty' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Liberty') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant, rose-pink to magenta blooms open in early summer, with green flecks on the outer petals. The flowers fade to silver as they age. George Hollis bred it in 1905.

Pairs well with Gooseneck loosestrife, Dalmatian bellflower, and Sensitive fern.
