Notes

'Limemound' spirea (Spiraea japonica 'Limemound') is a shrub for hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy or clay soil. It grows fast into a dense mound that reaches 24 to 36 inches tall and 36 to 48 inches wide. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It blooms in spring and summer, and butterflies visit the fragrant flowers.

Pairs well with Miss Kim lilac, Prairie dropseed, and Sarah Bernhardt peony.
