It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). Give it full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It blooms from early to late summer. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. This clumping evergreen also tolerates drought and salt.
Pairs well with Autumn fern, Wild geranium, and Christmas fern.
