Notes

'Lustrous' peony (Paeonia 'Lustrous') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Its semi-double, bomb-shaped flowers glow in vermilion-scarlet and have a fragrance. Saunders bred it in 1942.

Pairs well with White Feather hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Picture tulip.
