Notes

'Madame Carpentier' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Madame Carpentier') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Large, fragrant, semi-double pink blooms with crimson flecks open in early summer. Delâche bred it in 1850. The strong red stems carry dark green foliage.

Pairs well with Limelight hydrangea, Garlic chives, and Rock soapwort.
