Notes

'Madame Lemoine' lilac (Syringa vulgaris 'Madame Lemoine') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Fragrant flowers open from early to late spring and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. It also tolerates salt, so it suits roadside spots.

Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Hardy geranium, Clematis, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
