Notes
'Mafeking' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Mafeking') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Tall stems carry single, cupped ruby-red blooms with yellow centers and a mild mint-like fragrance. It blooms freely from mid to late spring into early summer over dark green foliage. Kelway bred it.
Pairs well with Coralbells, Carlton daffodil, and Sensitive fern.
