'Magicienne' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Magicienne') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Tree peonies keep woody stems through winter, so you can leave the framework in place and prune only to remove dead wood.

Pairs well with Siberian iris, Stargazer lily, Inkberry, and Wild bergamot.
