Notes

'Marcus Aurelius' peony (Paeonia 'Marcus Aurelius') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Early blooming flowers open salmon-pink with peach centers and fade to a blend of peach, yellow, and pink. The upright plants need no support, and the blooms make good cut flowers.

Pairs well with Clustered bellflower, Nodding onion, Annabelle hydrangea, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
