Notes
'Marie' magnolia (Magnolia 'Marie') is a tree for specimen planting, cottage gardens, foundation plantings, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This tree likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Tulip-shaped, light pink flowers have a lemon fragrance and bloom for up to six weeks in spring. It stays small at 8 to 10 feet high and 3 to 4 feet wide, so it suits small gardens and large containers. Bees and birds visit it.
Pairs well with Munstead lavender, Praying Hands hosta, Ornamental onion, and Johnny jump up.
