Notes

'Mars' camellia (Camellia japonica 'Mars') is a shrub for borders, woodland gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun and average to wet soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The columnar evergreen grows slowly and tolerates salt. Bees and birds visit the winter and spring blooms.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Jack in the pulpit, and Paperbark maple.
