Notes

'Maxine' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Maxine') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its pink double blooms open in late spring and early to mid summer. The flowers are a bit lighter than Therese and sit high on a plant of medium height. Edward Auten, Jr bred it in 1941.

Pairs well with Wild bergamot, Anise hyssop, and Cinnamon fern.
