Notes

'McDaniel' moss phlox (Phlox subulata 'McDaniel') is a perennial for rock gardens, ground cover, borders, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It forms a creeping mat that blooms in early to late spring. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Little bluestem, Nodding onion, and Eastern columbine.
