Notes

'Mel' stokes’ aster (Stokesia laevis 'Mel') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. Periwinkle blue flowers open from early to late summer and again in early autumn. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms, and the plant tolerates drought. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Little bluestem, Hardy hibiscus, and Casa Blanca lily.
