Notes

'Melody' peony (Paeonia 'Melody') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Its large, single, fragrant flowers open in early to late spring in palest mauve over cream yellow with plum-colored flares. Edward Auten, Jr bred it, and butterflies visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Blue wild indigo, Blue-eyed grass, and Greig's tulip.
