Notes

'Messalina' peony (Paeonia 'Messalina') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The early double flowers are light yellow with ruffled petals and a slight citrus fragrance. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. The upright plants need no support, and Joshua Scholten bred it.

Pairs well with First Frost hosta, Indian Summer rudbeckia, and Annabelle hydrangea.
