Notes
'Midnight Magic' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Midnight Magic') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It grows about 59 to 79 inches tall and bears flat purple flowers with one bud per stem. The blooms hold well on the bush. John W. and Dot M. McFarlane bred it, and it first bloomed in 1993.
Pairs well with Endless Summer hydrangea, Cinnamon fern, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
