Notes
'Midnight Sun' weigela (Weigela Florida 'Midnight Sun') is a shrub for borders, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees visit the flowers. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. The arching stems stay 12 to 18 inches tall, and the shrub tolerates salt.
Pairs well with Paris coral bells, Pink Impression tulip, and Christmas fern.
