Notes

'Midnight' wild indigo (Baptisia 'Midnight') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and low maintenance planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows 35 to 47 inches tall and wide, and it tolerates drought. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Hardy geranium, Album nettle-leaved mullein, and Indian grass.
