Notes

'Miles Standish' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Miles Standish') is a perennial for borders and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It forms a compact, upright mound of dark green foliage. Crimson to violet-red semi-double blooms open in early summer. George Hollis bred it in 1907.

Pairs well with Wild geranium, Incrediball hydrangea, and Indian grass.
