Notes

'Jelena' Japanese witch hazel (Hamamelis intermedia 'Jelena') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant copper flowers open in the cooler months, and the leaves turn color in fall. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Daffodil, Autumn fern, and Karl Foerster feather reed grass.
