Notes

'Green Thumb' witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana 'Green Thumb') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, clay soil. It has fragrant yellow blooms that open in autumn and again in winter, and bees and birds visit it. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Its drought tolerance helps in dry spells.

Pairs well with Common snowberry, Sensitive fern, Carlton daffodil, and Little bluestem.
