Notes
'Monarchy' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Monarchy') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large flowers are medium purple with black flares, which makes them a bold focal point in the garden. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.
Pairs well with Wild geranium, Cinnamon fern, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
