Notes

'Mondel' camellia (Camellia sasanqua 'Mondel') is a shrub for borders, hedges, privacy screens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast, stays green all year, and has an arching habit. Fragrant flowers open in early to late autumn and again in early to late winter, and bees visit them. Deer tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Mondo grass, Carolina jessamine, and Strawberry tree.
