Notes

'Monke' camellia (Camellia japonica 'Monke') is an evergreen shrub for borders, woodland gardens, and pollinator plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun and average to wet soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It grows slowly in a columnar shape and tolerates salt. Bees and birds visit the blooms, which open from winter into spring.

Pairs well with Wax myrtle, Cobra lily, and Asiatic jasmine.
