Notes

Cobra lily (Arisaema utile) is a perennial for shade gardens and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun and moist soil. Purple flowers open in early to late spring. The shiny purple spathe looks like large butterfly wings, and the leaves have red, wavy edges. In colder climates you can grow it in a pot and keep it just above freezing in winter.

Pairs well with Lady's slipper orchid, Wood sorrel, Snake's head, and Sedge.
