Notes

'Monlo' Atlantic nine-bark (Physocarpus opulifolius 'Monlo') is a shrub for borders, hedges, privacy screens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its arching stems hold purple-black leaves. White flowers open in spring and again in summer, and they draw butterflies, bees, and birds. It grows fast, so give it room to spread.

Pairs well with Northern bayberry, Aromatic aster, Sedge, and Carlton daffodil.
