Notes
'Mrs. Fred Athrop' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Mrs. Fred Athrop') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Huge double blooms open with a deep yellow center that becomes a collar below a crown of white. Some years the white is edged with carmen. Strong, tall stems carry the late spring flowers.
Pairs well with Liberty hosta, Little Beauty tulip, Sedge, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
