Notes

'Mrs. N. Thompson' clematis (Clematis 'Mrs. N. Thompson') is a vine for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. The blooms are deep violet-purple with a bright red bar and reach 4 to 6 inches wide. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Walter Pennell bred it.

Pairs well with Incrediball hydrangea, Stargazer lily, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
