Notes

'Mystery' peony (Paeonia 'Mystery') is a shrub for borders, specimen plantings, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Large lavender flowers with light green shading and purple veining open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it in 1948.

Pairs well with Lady's mantle, Blue fescue, and Nelly Moser clematis.
