Notes

'Nankeen' peony (Paeonia 'Nankeen') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The fluted, pale yellow flowers have almost black centers and sit well above the foliage in early to late spring. Butterflies visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Lamb’s ear, Niobe clematis, and Greig's tulip.
