Notes
'Nehumkeag' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Nehumkeag') is a perennial for borders, cut flower gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The flowers are single and bright red, so they add strong color to a sunny planting. Benjamin W. Guppy bred it. You can cut the blooms to bring indoors.
Pairs well with Fire and Ice hosta, Prairie dropseed, and Black Hero tulip.
