Notes

'Nicauca' obedient plant (Physostegia virginiana 'Nicauca') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rain gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a clumping mound 15 to 18 inches tall and wide, and butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms. Flowers open in summer and again in autumn. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with White Swan coneflower, Spotted joe-pye weed, and Sensitive fern.
