Notes
'Nippon-beni' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Nippon-beni') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The flowers are scarlet, and you can cut them for a vase. Set it in a border where its blooms can be seen up close. Cut stems make a bright bouquet indoors.
Pairs well with Blue Mouse Ears hosta, September Charm anemone, and Prairie dropseed.
