Notes

'Nippon Brilliant' peony (Paeonia 'Nippon Brilliant') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. The fragrant flowers are medium dark red, almost scarlet, with yellow petaloids at the center, and they open late on tall, stiff stems. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with White Swan coneflower, Annabelle hydrangea, Earth Angel hosta, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
