Notes

'Nippon Gold' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Nippon Gold') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese form has deep pink guards around a golden-yellow center of narrow, crinkled petaloids. The color fades in the sun, but the blooms are extra fine for cutting. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Rose, Sensitive fern, and Spanish bluebell.
