Notes
'Nippon Red' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Nippon Red') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type flowers are a rich solid red. A few petaloids are occasionally tipped yellow. Edward Auten, Jr bred it, and the stems carry the blooms well.
Pairs well with Indian Summer rudbeckia, Carlton daffodil, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
