Notes

'Nippon Treasure' peony (Paeonia 'Nippon Treasure') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant red flowers have a single row of petals around a feathery red and gold center, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Lyman D. Glasscock bred it in 1987.

Pairs well with Stained Glass hosta, Smooth hydrangea, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
