'Nong Yan Xiang Yu' peony (Paeonia 'Nong Yan Xiang Yu') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Fragrant, ruffled blooms open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. Early foliage emerges red, and the stems need no support. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.
Pairs well with Sweet woodruff, Blue Arrow Rocky mountain juniper, and The President clematis.
