'Nong Yuan Xia Yue' peony (Paeonia 'Nong Yuan Xia Yue') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The fragrant, single flowers are pale creamy yellow with purplish-red flares. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The blooms open in early to late spring and attract butterflies.
Pairs well with Blue fescue, False indigo, and Greig's tulip.
