Notes
'Nulli Secundus' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Nulli Secundus') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Kelway bred it in 1909. The single blooms are amaranth purple with dark pink centers and open early. The plant grows large and spreads, so give it room.
Pairs well with Earth Angel hosta, Prairie dropseed, and Japanese spirea.
