Notes

'Orv' peony (Paeonia 'Orv') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, dark red double blooms form dense, low flowers that attract butterflies and bees. William Henry Krekler bred it in 1979. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Liberty hosta, Charles Joly lilac, Prairie dropseed, and Black Hero tulip.
