Notes
'Papoose' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Papoose') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, twisty double flowers are a rich red. Stamens peep out from among the petals. William Henry Krekler bred it in 1977.
Pairs well with Purrsian Blue nepeta, Immortality iris, Phantom panicle hydrangea, and Cheerfulness daffodil.
