Notes
'Peppermint' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Peppermint') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant, flat blooms open light pink and fade to white in early to mid summer. Red markings on some petals give it a striped look like peppermint candy. Dr. Herbert C. Cooper bred it, and Gilbert H. Wild and Son introduced it in 1958.
Pairs well with Dalmatian bellflower, Grape hyacinth, and Blue sage.
