Notes

Phlox (Phlox stolonifera) is a perennial for ground cover, shade gardens, woodland gardens, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It forms loose mats of semi-evergreen foliage with clusters of large lavender, blue, or white flowers. In good conditions it grows fast and can become weedy, so give it room.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Oakleaf hydrangea, and Lily of the valley.
