Notes

'Picta' kerria (Kerria japonica 'Picta') is a shrub for specimen plantings, accents, shade gardens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to average, loamy soil. It grows 24 to 36 inches tall with an arching habit and blooms in early to late spring. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Western sword fern, Red trillium, and Allegheny serviceberry.
