Notes

'Simplex' kerria (Kerria japonica 'Simplex') is a shrub for specimen plantings, hedges, shade gardens, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to average, loamy soil. Bright yellow flowers open from early to late spring on arching stems, and bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit them. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It is drought tolerant.

Pairs well with White Feather hosta, Western sword fern, Red trillium, and Allegheny serviceberry.
