Notes

'Plum Surprise' peony (Paeonia 'Plum Surprise') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, semi-double blooms are plum or crimson with white streaks, and they face up. Stems stay upright at up to 26 inches, so you do not need supports. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Big Daddy hosta, Spiked speedwell, and Prairie dropseed.
