'Polar Star' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Polar Star') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It is a large, white Japanese type peony with light pink shading and a yellow center that blooms in early summer. The stems are tall and strong, and the plant reaches about 35 inches. Hans Peter Sass bred it.
