Notes

'Pomegranate Kiss' carnation (Dianthus 'Pomegranate Kiss') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The fragrant double flowers are deep red with pink splashing, and they bloom in spring and again in summer. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Butterflies and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Blue fescue, Stargazer lily, and Paula Fay peony.
